Is it worth it?

This opinion piece was written in response to Bush’s speech last night. It was printed, in of all things, a Texas newspaper.

WARNING: The article contains some brutally graphic pictures. If you have a weak stomach, don’t look. No bullshit.

Check it out here.

Wherein i try to post a little update

So i’m stuck here at work, having to deal with this quarter end bullshit, and i realized that i haven’t posted in a while. Thought i’d spew a little. Last weekend was…it turned out to be a weekend where nothing was planned, and it didn’t *feel* busy, but ended up being so anyway. Odd. FMP was on Friday, and was another good one. Small, but new faces as well as some old ones. Rather not do it on a Friday night anymore- Saturday just seems better suited.

I have not been able to sit down and talk with Charlie about the Secrets of San Francisco book. This does not make me a happy monkey. However, i’ve started work on character portraits. Hope to get going on some art for Shambles soon, as well.

Got us a new printer last night, to replace the Epson 740i that i’ve had since the Harding administration. After research, review reading, and having such a positive experience with our digital camera, we decided to go with Canon again. Setting up was, of course, a snap. Ran a couple of test prints, both of which, even on crappy paper, look damn fine. There’s even a couple of neato features i discovered – it’s got a load tray for paper at the bottom, so’s i don’t have to feed paper from the top, and it can print on both side of the page. Sweet! Not to mention that it’s quiet and fast. I wanna give it more time before i render a final verdict, but so far, i dig it.

My dad is going back into surgery *again* next week to take care of the infection in his foot. Bad news is that, depending on what they find, he might lose one of his big toes. Fucking diabetes. My dad might become an amputee statistic. The diet that i’m on has me cutting my sugar intake to virtually zero, and with the recent events with my dad’s foot, i’ve been hearing this little voice in the back of my head saying, “just in time, man”. I just hope that this will be the last of this type of thing that my dad will have to deal with. He doesn’t deserve this.

Speaking of my diet, i didn’t think that one positive side effect of it would be the impact on sexual performance. Steph was gracious enough to point this out to me, however.

Lastly, i think i’m going to finally get myself a new cell phone, as i have now broken the antenna on my current one *again*. Sheesh.

Domokun attacks iPod man!!!

I just realized that all in the month of September –

a) i’ll be seeing Dead Can Dance

b) Serenity will be released

and c) Ztepf’s b-day will be celebrated.

Hot damn!!

Goddamn insomnia.

Most of the time i don’t have it. But every once in a while it hits me, and when it does, its total and complete in its effects. Latest bout nailed me Sunday night, and i couldn’t sleep. At all. So i stayed home from work and attempted to doze, which sort-of-but-not-really worked. I’ve since recovered, but i had to gripe.

Oh goody! And my foot has sprouted its very own wart. How grand.

Last night, Ztepf and i went to the Planning Council meeting to speak out against the gawdawful cineplex/parking structure monstrosity. I was waay too bloody tired to say anything, but Ztepf did. As my first foray into the strange and perpelxing world of local politics, i have to say its…not all that different from what i expected. There were a *lot* of people speaking out against the project, with one person submitting a stack of petitions she’d collected, and others saying that they had more signatures. In the end, all the speeches and discussion and cheers by us in the audience didn’t mean a thing.

Getting there part II

Getting there.

So i’ve just finished upgrading from WordPress 1.2 to 1.5. Smooth sailing so far, tho there was a hiccup because i needed to delete a database before continuing. Discovered between upgrades that Dreamhost has this lovely One-Click Install for WordPress. Seemless. Dreamhost is the bomb, yo.

Next step is to get my crap squared away with LiveJournal, and get the feed going. Oh, and to change this lame ass look of WP. And to link all this to my existing site. Woof.
